Sumbawa Besar, Indonesia – Archipelago Biotechnology Indonesia proudly unveils its latest endeavor, the social project titled “Covid 360: Clean Surface, Healthy People,” aimed at pioneering a groundbreaking system for the rapid detection and monitoring of SARS-CoV-2 virus presence on various surfaces within public facilities. This innovative initiative marks a significant milestone in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic, particularly within the region of Nusa Tenggara Barat.
The project encompasses a comprehensive strategy divided into five major agendas: Development of Rapid Test Surface Testing Kits for Covid-19, Stakeholder Engagement and Awareness Campaigns, Mass Production of Rapid Test Kits, Training and Technical Guidance for Community Groups (Covid Stewards), and Testing Activities in Public Facilities and Tourist Destinations.
The ultimate goal of the project is to deliver a high-quality and cost-effective rapid test kit capable of swiftly detecting Covid-19 virus particles on surfaces with utmost accuracy, user-friendliness, and rapid turnaround time (10-15 minutes). The implementation of this surface testing system is envisioned to serve as a research-based policy innovation in Sumbawa Region, potentially leading to the issuance of “Covid-Free Area Certificates.”
The direct benefits of the project include its role in mitigating the rise in Covid-19 cases, particularly within Sumbawa Region, thereby fostering a safer environment for community activities and contributing to gradual economic recovery. Additionally, by partnering with community groups, known as Archi Covid Stewards, the project aims to expand its social impact by engaging skilled field personnel in routine surface testing activities.
This initiative underscores Archi Biotech’s commitment to fostering collective awareness and action in combating the spread of the Covid-19 virus, while also serving as a testament to the application of research-based innovation in shaping public policy. The project’s funding is made possible through the support of Pertamina Foundation’s PFmuda Young Leader 2022 program, further exemplifying the collaborative efforts towards addressing pressing societal challenges.
